Kai-Zen
A Puzzle and Abstract Strategy game for 2–4 players, of 20 min and light on rules. It plays with tile placement, set collection and pattern building. Recommended from age 10. The BoardGameGeek community likes it best with 4 players.
"Japan, 12th century: you are a member of the new GODAI (5 elements) school, formed by zen artists and craftsmen who, like you, seek to compose emakis (scroll paintings) in search of the fifth element: kū (sky, emptiness, sublime), in order to achieve balance. Your technique is to investigate and analyze ancient scrolls, to extract fragments and, through your master craftsmanship, to create beautiful zen emakis to facilitate learning and meditation in the search of Kū." Craft your own legends in emaki scrolls. To achieve this, group the clans together (dragons, samurai, monks and peasants) seeking harmony between them, and wisely combine the powers of the 4 natural elements learned so far (water, fire, earth, air). Only then can you reach true knowledge of the fifth element and achieve higher wisdom.
