Rurik: Second Edition
A Territory Building and Medieval game for 1–4 players, of 60–120 min and of medium complexity. It plays with end game bonuses, contracts and open drafting. Recommended from age 1.
Rurik: Second Edition is an immersive euro-style realm-building game set during the turbulent succession crisis of 1015, bringing to life the culture, and political intrigue of Kyivan Rus’. Designed by Stanislav Kordonskiy, illustrated by Yaroslav Radetskyi, Vlad Ricean, and art directed by Yoma. The game invites players to step into the roles of rival leaders. As the sons and claimants of Vladimir the Great struggle for legitimacy, you must build, tax, battle, and accomplish great deeds to win the support of the people and secure your place as the next ruler of Kyivan Rus’. This new edition refines and expands the original design while staying true to the heart of what made Rurik unique. The signature “auction programming” system returns, creating tense and interactive planning moments as players openly bid for actions with their advisors. Rurik: Second Edition enhances this core system with reworked combat and movement rules, updated Deeds and Scheme effects, personal player boards, new Landmarks and an entirely new Merits system that deepens strategic progression. Several elements from the Stone & Blade expansion have also been integrated directly into the base game. The result is a definitive edition that offers richer decisions, smoother flow, and a deeper connection to the history of Kyivan Rus’; perfect for returning fans and newcomers. —description from the publisher
