Game profile

Yatai

An Abstract Strategy game for 2–4 players, of 30–60 min and of medium complexity. It plays with chaining, action drafting and resource queue. Recommended from age 10. The BoardGameGeek community likes it best with 3 players.

Players will be busy running a Japanese street food stall. Using a 3x2 grid system, players choose which types of action (adding customers, cooking food, stocking the fridge with drinks, serving dishes, or recycling empty bottles) to carry out during their turn. A queue management mechanism that will require you to coordinate your choices well to best satisfy customers. Players form queues of customer/tourist meeples drawn from a bag, adding and bumping action tiles on their grid. Which dishes you can cook is dependent on what ingredients you've collected, and your fridge and bottle recycling facilities are both limited so need to be managed to keep you in contention. During the game, it will be possible to develop your own Yatai by adding cooking plates, enlarging the refrigerator, or learning to cook new dishes and improving customer reviews. —description from the publisher
